in the heart of Ancona

Our restaurant came to life thanks to Cristina -the chef - and her passion passed on to her by her grandmothers and those authentic scents and flavours that only homemade and traditional cuisine can provide. This passion has brought Cristina to work in many restaurants in Ancona, acquiring years of professional experience. Thus was born her dream to open her own business, combining tradition and innovation in a perfect fusion.

La Tana del Polpo becomes the perfect place for Cristina, because it is located a few steps from the sea, offering at km0 all those fish products that the Adriatic has to give. Our seafood restaurant is located in the historic center of Ancona, the beating heart of the region's capital city.

Our menu respects the seasonal nature of fishery and horticultural products, guaranteeing and valuing freshness and local ingredients: we pay close attention to the primary products selection, prioritizing Ancona and Riviera del Conero’s fishery products. For this very reason our menu variates with the seasons and availability of ingredients,
cooked and treated with respect and love.

    Ristorante davvero speciale tra le vie del centro di Ancona: un menu con pochi piatti tra cui è difficilissimo scegliere... ma in ogni caso si va sul sicuro, sono davvero uno più buono dell’altro. Prezzi giusti e personale gentile. Consigliatissimo!

    A very special restaurant between the downtown streets of Ancona: a menu with few dishes between which it is challenging to choose ... but in any case, what evere you choose you are sure to enjoy it as every dish is more tasteful than the other. Fair price and friendly stuff. Higly recommended!

  • La Tana del Polpo è uno di quei ristoranti belli, precisi e curati, ma nei quali ti senti a casa. Cristina e Sergio in cucina ed Elena in sala, sono la ciliegina sulla torta di questa “scatola” deliziosa. Sono stata oggi a pranzo con un amica e i nostri due figli. Tutto davvero delizioso. Consiglio vivamente ai nuovi avventori di provare i cappellacci neri con la carbonara di mare... semplicemente sublimi.


    Tornati per un pranzo in famiglia siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti.
    Inizio di qualità (e quantità!) con l’antipasto di pesce misto caldo e freddo: una nota speciale
    per la trippa di rana pescatrice, imperdibile. A seguire cappellacci al nero di seppia con le cozze.
    Per secondo grigliata di pesce con tanta varietà e l’immancabile polpo alla griglia, tenerissimo.
    Tutto sempre freschissimo e proposto con professionalità e gentilezza.

    We came back for a family's lunch and were very much satisfied. Star of quality (and quantitiy!) with a seafood entrees: a special note for the monkfish tripe, unmissable. To follow cuttlefish ink cappellacci (similiar to cappellini) with mussels. For the main course grilled fish with a lot of assortment and unmissable grilled octopus, very tender. Everything is always fresh and offered with professionalism and courtesy.

The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Ciriaco, patron of Ancona, it rises on the top of the Guasco hill, overlooking the stunning view of Ancona and its gulf.

"The harbour of Ancona is the first harbour in Italy for international traffic of vehicles and travellers and is location of Fincantieri’s shipbuilding. The harbour of Ancona contains a vast fishing area, the ‘’mandracchio’’, where the local fish market auction takes place daily. A main attraction of the town are the tourist ports, which can easily be reached by a suggestive walk. A must see is the Arch of Traiano, which was built in the Roman-era and has been beautifully preserved. "

THE Passetto

The war memorial was built in the 1930s, facing the well known stone beach of Ancona is surrounded by a panoramic pine forest - Pineta del Passetto - which offers a breathtaking view of the sea, Piave's promontory (just before the Monte Conero) and of the riviera.

Portonovo's bay is one of the most beautiful and well known beaches of ancona. One in a kind, this bay is the most loved by the inhabitants of Ancona: for this reason, in summer it is very popular withocals and tourists flocking to the white pebble beach to dive into the crystal clear waters of the Conero.

This recipe was born with anchovies as its only protagonist, finding its roots in the seafaring tradition of the Marche region. Cooked on the grill or on coals, the ''sardine scottadito'' cannot be missed from the list of typical Marche dishes, and is a perfect delicacy to taste (even with your hands!). Sardines are accompanied by a few ingredients, such as: olive oil, lemon and parsley, just to enhance unique flavors and aromas of their kind.

Moscioli (wild mussels) are a typical and culinary specialty of Ancona, they are attached to the walls of Monte Conero and became a Slow Food Presidium. They are rigorously fished only in the period from April to October, and in the summer there is even an entire festival dedicated to this specialty, which could only be called "MOSCIOLANDO".
